New Product Spotlight – News from York Part 2

23 10 2012

In addition to all of the great new Standard O and American Flyer trains, we had many more new products on display this past week at York. From traditional items like the long-awaited 726 Berkshire to brand new control systems and our new FasTrack modules, here’s a look at some of the other treasures on display.

726 Berkshire Sets

The mighty 726 is back!

Both the passenger and freight 726 Berkshire sets were on display this week. We’ve paid close attention to the details to make sure these capture all of the fun and nostalgia of the originals.

Merchandise Car

The popular Merchandise Car will be included in the freight set and will also now be available for separate purchase.

The coaches are iconic Lionel.

Conventional Classics Sets

The Navy Promotional Outfit and Union Pacific Anniversary sets were also on display. These sets are sure to offer lots of fun for the classic train collector and operator.

New Sets
NJT

The New Jersey Transit set is ready to go to work.

In addition to the classic releases, Lionel displayed our new sets as well. These included the popular radio-controlled Thomas and the new New Jersey Transit work train sets.

Command Control Speeders

The command control speeders are back on track.

These were featured in the Signature Catalog but had to be put on hold temporarily. They’re back in Volume 2 and we had a sample of the track car on display at York.

Power and Control
GW180

The new GW-180 offers a step up from our standard train set transformer.

In addition to all of the fun trains and accessories, we have several new power and control options coming down the track.

First is the new mid-range GW-180 power pack. This new power supply offers the increased power you need for mid-sized layouts with the simplicity and familiarity of the traditional CW-80 transformer. Using an additional 180 Watt power supply, this pack will give you what you need for larger locomotives and longer consists.

Legacy 1L

The new LEGACY 1L controller and base will offer an affordable entry or expansion package.

Also on display was the new LEGACY Cab 1-L. Housed in the familiar TMCC Cab 1 controller, this system offers LEGACY control in a much less-intimidating and expensive hand-held cab. Perfect for those looking to get started or expand their control systems in an affordable manner, look for more information on this cab in the near future.

tablet controller

Soon you can control your LEGACY layout with your tablet!

While we continue to work on refining and improving our existing control and power options, we also keep working hard to expand our horizons. A new prototype LEGACY interface was also demonstrated at York. This will allow your LEGACY base to talk to your laptop, tablet or other device through a Wi-Fi connection. Turn your touch-screen into a control panel to operate switches and more! While still in development, we hope to have more details on this exciting new option in 2013.

It would be nice if you produce the docking station you show for the Ipad to re-introduce the Legacy module parking garage underneath and make it dual purpose. Once the IPad was placed in the cradle it would hide the modules.
